TAKE ACTION: Tell committee to expand pre-K, not Indiana’s costly voucher program
03/09/2017

HB 1004, passed in the House and now sitting with the Senate Education Committee, would moderately expand access to pre-K education while also creating a pipeline of new students into the state’s costly private school voucher program.

The bill, authored by House Education Committee Chair Rep. Bob Behning (R – Indianapolis), would allow students who receive a pre-K grant to automatically become eligible for a school choice scholarship for grades K – 12.

ISTA has a long history of supporting early childhood education, but not an expansion of the private school voucher program.

Tell Senate Education Committee members to remove vouchers from this bill.
