State education plan to be released
06/30/2017

The Indiana Department of Education said today in a letter to educators that Indiana’s draft plan for implementing the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) will be posted on the department’s website this evening.

ISTA will be reviewing the plan and offer further guidance on how members can offer feedback.

ESSA is the new federal law replacing No Child Left Behind. The law returns education policy decisions back to where they belong – local educators, families and communities. ESSA offers student-centered policies with opportunities for educators to give input on major issues such as teacher evaluations, student testing time and additional measures for accountability apart from student test scores.
