Make Your Voice Heard: Share Feedback on Indiana’s Updated Diploma
10/14/2024
The Indiana State Board of Education has released a revised draft of the high school diploma requirements following extensive public input earlier this year. As part of this ongoing process, we have another important opportunity to ensure that educators’ voices are heard.
We urge you to provide feedback on the updated proposal by either attending the upcoming public meetings or submitting comments through the official IDOE feedback form.
Key Opportunities to Share Your Input:
- Public Hearing:
- Date: Friday, November 8
- Time: 10 a.m. ET
- Location: Indiana Government Center South, Conference Room B, 402 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46204
- State Board of Education Meeting:
- Date: Tuesday, November 12
- Time and Location: Visit in.gov/sboe for meeting details.
- Submit Feedback Online:
- Deadline: Friday, November 8
- Form: Submit your thoughts on the revised proposal via the official public comment form, which you can access here.
What’s Changed? The new proposal includes improvements in response to feedback from educators, parents and stakeholders—many of which ISTA members helped shape. However, there are still areas that need refinement, particularly around:
- Funding and resource allocation for districts.
- Work-based learning and transportation access.
- Emphasizing the importance of music, arts and world languages.
Why Your Voice Matters: ISTA members have already made a difference in shaping the latest draft, and this is an opportunity to continue pushing for improvements before the final vote in December. Your input will ensure that these changes truly support the needs of Indiana’s students and educators.
