ISTA’s 2017 legislative priorities: Our kids. Our schools. Our future.
01/04/2017

In a Statehouse news conference today, ISTA President Teresa Meredith announced ISTA’s 2017 legislative priorities.

ISTA President's Remarks

The agenda focuses on the association's core focus of our kids, our schools and our future.

The legislative agenda is a student-centered approach to addressing some of Indiana’s toughest education challenges. The solutions offered aim to improve instruction and learning for all kids, fairly and adequately fund local public schools and ensure every kid has a caring, qualified and committed teacher.

ISTA’s agenda also focuses on our Educational Support Professionals and the important work they do serving our school children.

ISTA’s priorities came directly from our members who attended one of our fall forums held around the state. Members from Valparaiso to New Albany shared their stories, which raised common themes related to the issues facing our students, educators and retirees. The wealth of knowledge and experience from our members was instrumental in developing our agenda.

There will be opportunities for every ISTA member to engage their legislators throughout the legislative session. For more information on upcoming events and how to reach your legislators, visit ista-in.org/daysofaction
