ISTA STATEMENT ON INDIANA REVENUE REPORT
04/19/2023

Earlier today, the April state revenue forecast was released projecting an additional increase of $1.5 billion. In response, ISTA President Keith Gambill issued the following statement:

"Indiana's revenue forecast paints a promising picture, and it's time to seize this opportunity to invest in our state's most valuable asset - our public schools. Every Hoosier child deserves a high-quality education, and adequate funding is vital to equip our schools with the resources and support necessary for student success. But our commitment to education cannot stop there. As our neighboring states outpace us in teacher pay, we cannot afford to fall behind in the race for top talent. It's time for our legislators to prioritize addressing Indiana's teacher shortage crisis and make strides towards higher salaries. With this revenue forecast, we have a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our students and educators, and we must seize it."
