ISTA-Retired presented graduates with scholarships

ISTA-Retired awarded two scholarships valued at more than $2,500 each at an awards luncheon on Thursday, July 25. Avon High School graduate Katie Sesslar and Moorseville High School graduate Kaitlyn Arvin were the scholarship recipients.

Sesslar has been actively involved in school and community activities throughout her high school career, including participation in the Avon Community Schools Ambassador Program and the National Honor Society and as a volunteer at American Senior Community’s Nursing Home and Hendricks Regional Health Hospital.

She plans to pursue a career in nursing and will attend the University of Southern Indiana this fall. Sesslar was nominated by her step-mom, Kristin Sesslar, who is a member of the Mill Creek Classroom Teachers Association.

Arvin has been actively involved in school and community activities throughout her high school career, including teaching swimming to kids of all ages.

She plans to pursue a degree in speech and language pathology and will attend Purdue University this fall. Arvin was nominated by her grandfather, Ralph Mauder, who is a member of ISTA-Retired. Mauder was a longtime teacher in Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools.
