ISTA-Retired grants more than $3K in college scholarships
07/20/2018

ISTA-Retired presented three ISTA Foundation scholarships to students entering college this fall. Retired educators raised a record amount this year to fund scholarships at more than $1,700 each.

The ISTA Foundation scholarship winners were Janae Quinn, MaKenna Mikel and Dylan Johnson. Each awardee was nominated by an ISTA-Retired member.

Janae Quinn will pursue a degree in secondary math education at IU-Kokomo. During her time at Western High School, she was in the drama club, FFA and National Honor Society. Quinn has strong community volunteer credentials.

MaKenna Mikel plans to study marine biology at IU-South Bend. Her freshman-year biology class at Penn High School inspired her love of science.

Dylan Johnson will enter Purdue University to study agricultural economics and agribusiness management. He hopes to one day manage his family’s farm. He was the valedictorian of his class at Orleans Jr./Sr. High School.

Scholarship recipients were recognized at a ceremony with their families, ISTA Executive Director Dan Holub and ISTA-Retired Chair Rod Ellcessor.
