ISTA Executive Director Resigns
04/09/2016

Will Serve as Executive Director for the Alabama Education Association

INDIANAPOLIS — April 9, 2016

ISTA Executive Director Brenda Pike, Ed.D., CAE, will resign after six successful years leading the Indiana State Teachers Association’s operations effective May 15. She has accepted a new opportunity to serve as the Alabama Education Association’s (AEA) executive director.

“On behalf of the ISTA Board of Directors, I want to thank Dr. Pike for her service, commitment to our members and for her strong leadership over the past several years,” said ISTA President Teresa Meredith. “We wish her the very best in her new role at AEA.”

Under Dr. Pike’s leadership ISTA has markedly improved its financial standing, moved from membership losses to gains, strengthened its administrative policies, weathered extreme legislative threats, and is now poised for complete recovery and continued growth.

“It has been a privilege to lead the operations at ISTA during a period of change and progress,” said Dr. Pike. “I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished during my time and I’m excited to return to my home state of Alabama to work alongside AEA’s officers, board of directors and staff to bring its members a strong, viable association that strengthens public education for Alabamian students across the state.”
