ISTA Applauds Early Literacy Investment
In response to the announcement of a $111 million investment in early literacy programs and paid professional development, ISTA President Keith Gambill released the following statement:
“Hoosier students and educators have persevered and endured unprecedented challenges as a result of the pandemic. Educators continue to set high expectations for students that best meet their learning needs and our expectations must to be met with state-level investments.
An investment in our students literacy skills is critical, and today’s announcement is promising. ISTA applauds the generosity of the Lilly Endowment and the commitment of the Indiana Department of Education to support our students and educators in working together to improve early literacy across Indiana. We look forward to partnering in this very important work.”
