ACTION ALERT: ANOTHER amendment to ban dues deduction has been filed

Another Senator has filed an amendment to HB 1126 which would prevent any group representing teachers to deduct dues from a member’s paycheck. This time, the amendment author is Sen. Jim Smith.

 

We alerted members yesterday to a similar amendment, but the amendment’s author pulled it from the committee.

 

This is AGAIN purely an attack on teachers and their associations. Deductions of all types are allowed under Indiana law.

 

This amendment will likely be heard today, so please CALL your Senator immediately.

Tell your Senator to oppose any amendment that would take away automatic deductions for dues payments. Deductions of all kinds are allowed under Indiana law for all kinds of purposes.  Tell them your professional Association dues should be treated no differently.
