Tell Governor Pence to ensure teacher tax credit is put in the state budget

At the beginning of the session, Gov. Pence announced his legislative priorities which included a tax credit for teachers’ classroom expenses. This priority became HB 1005, which allowed up to a $200 tax credit for teachers’ out-of-pocket expenses on classroom supplies that benefit students. The bill passed in the House, but never received a hearing in the Senate and is currently dead.

With a few weeks remaining before the end of the legislative session, it is not too late for this pro-teacher bill to come back in the budget or another bill in conference committee.

Please let Gov. Pence know that it’s time to respect the teaching profession by offering some assistance.
