TAKE ACTION: Support amendment giving voters the choice to elect state superintendent
02/11/2017

Beginning in 2025, the state superintendent of public instruction would be appointed by the governor, rather than elected by voters under SB 179.

ISTA resolutions call for the state superintendent to be elected. From a policy perspective, removing the direct voice of voters from having a say in education policy is wrong-headed.

Sen. Luke Kenley (R – Noblesville) has filed an amendment to put the question of appointing or electing the state superintendent on a ballot referendum. Please urge your senator to support this amendment.
