Statement from ISTA on 2024-25 IREAD Results
08/13/2025

“Indiana’s gains in third grade reading proficiency are a testament to the hard work and dedication of educators, students and families in communities across the state. Reading is the foundation for all future learning, and ensuring every child can read well by the end of third grade is essential to their long-term success. While no single test can capture all that students know and can do, these results are an encouraging sign of progress.

To maintain these results and keep this momentum going, we must continue to provide educators and students with the support, resources and learning conditions needed for success. ISTA remains committed to working with policymakers, school leaders and families to build on this progress and ensure every Hoosier child becomes a confident, capable reader. We appreciate Secretary Jenner’s focus on early literacy and her recognition of the work educators are doing in classrooms every day.”
