Federal Funding Freeze Harms Indiana Students and Public Schools
01/28/2025
“The recent federal funding freeze threatens vital programs that Indiana’s students and public schools rely on every day. From Head Start to school meal programs and teacher training, these resources play a critical role in supporting students, particularly in low-income communities, and ensuring their success.
While the U.S. Department of Education has stated that formula grants such as Title I and IDEA and Pell Grants and Direct Loans are not impacted, uncertainty remains. ISTA remains deeply concerned about the implications of this freeze and the potential disruption to programs that help level the playing field for Indiana’s students. We urge policymakers and President Trump to address this issue swiftly and comprehensively to ensure our schools and families have the resources they need to thrive.”
