Actions from the ISTA RA
04/28/2021

This past weekend, more than 300 delegates participated in the ISTA Representative Assembly (RA). Thank you to delegates for preparing and actively engaging in the assembly meeting.

Review ISTA President Keith Gambill's remarks from the ISTA RA.

In pre-RA meetings, delegates nominated and elected members to the ISTA Board of Directors and governance standing committees.

There are two elections being conducted via mail-in ballot – open seats for the NEA Board of Directors and the ISTA Board of Directors At-large early career educator. Delegates who attended Saturday’s meeting will receive a ballot to complete and return. If you’re interested in learning more about the candidates, watch their statements to the assembly at ista-in.org/ista-ra.

Delegates also adopted Bylaw Amendment #1. The bylaw amendment states, “For the membership years of 2021 – 22 and 2022 – 23 only, annual dues shall increase by no more than $5 in each membership year.” Previously, the dues increase cap was $10.

Following the adoption of the bylaw amendment, delegates then adopted a budget reflecting the amendment.

Delegates also voted on ISTA Resolutions to guide the advocacy and legislative work of the Association.

All ISTA governing documents will be updated and posted to ista-in.org/governing-documents in the coming days.

Once again, thank you to the delegates who participated and to the ISTA RA and governance committee chairs who contributed to or participated in the assembly. Your work ensured a successful and smooth meeting.
