A day without education support professionals
11/15/2017

Education support professionals (ESP) serve critical roles in public schools – roles that support kids to achieve their best.

There are nine job categories of ESPs:

  • Clerical Service
  • Custodial & Maintenance
  • Food Service
  • Health & Student Services
  • Paraeducators
  • Security Services
  • Skilled Trades
  • Technical Services
  • Transportation
  • Higher Education

These employees contribute to the education of kids, supporting the whole child to improve learning. But, what if these support professionals disappeared? What would a school day without ESPs be like?

Only five of the nine vital ESP roles are represented here, and it is clear the school day would crumble without the skills and services of ESPs.

Today is national ESP Day. Take a moment to thank the ESPs in your school that help shuttle kids to school, nourish minds with nutritious food, ensure your classrooms are clean, maintain the school grounds, support technology and more.
