TAKE ACTION: Tell legislators not to limit schools’ ability to pass referenda
02/01/2019

With limited state funds, school districts have more frequently relied on additional funding through local ballot referendums. A new bill would unnecessarily restrict opportunities for school districts and communities to choose to support their local public schools.

SB 246 would limit the ability to have a school funding referendum in a general election or municipal election, but only if the school is contained entirely within the municipality.

The current system is reasonable and there is no evidence of abuse.
