Private school voucher study reaffirms that public schools deserve our support
06/26/2017

In response to a study of Indiana’s private school voucher program released today by the University of Notre Dame, ISTA President Teresa Meredith issued the following statement:

“This study confirms what many have suspected, private school vouchers are not a solution to helping kids succeed in school.

The study’s findings show that kids fall so far behind in voucher schools that it takes four years to get back to where they started, should not be celebrated.

This study is just the latest to show why private school vouchers aren't the solution to helping kids. What every child needs is a quality, well-equipped public school right in their neighborhood.

As we see more and more evidence that private school vouchers aren’t benefiting kids, I call on legislators and the governor to undertake an analysis of the financial accountability of the state’s voucher program as well.”
