Mark your calendar for the ESP Conference
09/20/2017

Registration is open for the ESP Conference, Nov. 17 – 18 in Indianapolis. Join ISTA for a weekend of learning, growth and collective action.

ISTA recognizes the unique role of education support professionals (ESP) in our public schools. ESPs require tailored professional development that covers the variety of roles ESPs have in schools.

ISTA is pleased to host Saul Ramos, National Education Association (NEA) ESP of the Year and Dr. Lori Desautels, assistant professor, Butler University, as keynote speakers for the ESP Conference.

Ramos is a paraeducator from Worcester, Mass. A self-taught braillist, Ramos transcribes school materials and classwork of visually impaired students into print or braille. He serves on his state ESP, Ethnic Minority Affairs, Bylaws and Rules committees and the Equal Opportunity Council, which he vice-chairs. He is a graduate of the NEA ESP Leaders for Tomorrow. Ramos is also involved in the community through several nonprofits including, Arte Latino of New England, Providence Latin American Film Festival, Rhode Island Latino Arts and  ECAS Theater.

Dr. Desautels’ keynote address, “Regulating Emotion and How the Brain Learns, Behaves and Engages,” will offer attendees tools to detect and see patterns of behavior to address kids’ emotional, social and cognitive needs.

In addition to the keynote speakers, there will be valuable breakout sessions and networking to support and strengthen ESP locals throughout the state.

Join ISTA for the ESP Conference.
