ISTA Statement on the Adoption of Amendment to Protect Collective Bargaining in HB 1304

The Senate voted today to amend HB 1304, removing a provision that threatened the collective bargaining rights of teachers in the proposed mastery-based program. ISTA President Keith Gambill issued the following statement in response to the amendment's passage:
“We commend the bipartisan group of senators who stood with Indiana's teachers today by supporting an amendment to remove harmful language from HB 1304, safeguarding the rights and voices of our state's teachers.
