ISTA Statement on Gov. Holcomb’s 2020 Legislative Priorities
12/10/2019

ISTA President Keith Gambill issued the following statement in response to Gov. Holcomb’s 2020 legislative agenda.

“ISTA recognizes and appreciates Gov. Holcomb for sharing our goals in holding schools and teachers harmless from ILEARN scores and reversing the teacher licensure requirements by making them optional.

“While we await the governor’s teacher compensation commission report, the legislature must make progress on teacher pay this session. Indiana’s teacher pay gap with neighboring states will only get bigger if we do nothing this session. Lawmakers should invest $75 million as a down payment to increasing teachers’ base salaries.”
