Indiana's broadest in the nation school voucher program still not broad enough?

$81 million worth of our tax dollars left public schools last year and went to vouchers for private schools instead. Yet voucher advocates want more funding per voucher, including the ability to use tax dollars for renovations or building construction.

 

The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette reports that private voucher schools are running out of space and are turning to taxpayers to foot the bill for renovations and construction for their facilities, which are mostly religion based. They propose all of this be made possible through increasing the dollar amount each student receives from Indiana’s school voucher program.

 

Never mind the fact that expanding school vouchers to cover capital expenses of churches and other religious organization’s buildings is likely unconstitutional and wrong; aren’t we draining enough money from our public schools?
