How you can celebrate American Education Week
10/31/2016

American Education Week is Nov. 14 – 18 and celebrates public education and educators. ISTA wants to showcase the good work of our members in delivering quality education to Hoosier kids.

ISTA members are invited to participate in American Education Week. Suggested activities for each membership category, include:

  • Nov. 14 - Kickoff Day - ISTA and NEA are kicking off American Education Week. Invite parent volunteers into your classrooms, educate students of career options in public education and prepare for a week of celebration.
  • Nov. 15 - ISEA & Higher Ed Day - Members of the Indiana Student Education Association (ISEA) will fundraise for their annual service project, Outreach to Teach. Connect with a student member to donate.
  • Nov. 16 - ESP Day - Education support professionals (ESPs) are vital to making public schools great. They also make a difference in their communities. Watch for ESP-led public service projects and stories in your community.
  • Nov. 17 - Educator for a Day - This is an opportunity for teachers to share their work with elected and community leaders. Teachers will be given the tools to invite elected and community leaders to spend the day in the classroom.
  • Nov. 18 - ISTA-Retired Day - ISTA-Retired members continue to support public education and Hoosier kids. ISTA-Retired chapters will donate copies of Advancing the Cause of Education: A History of the Indiana State Teachers Association to public libraries across the state.

Tool and ideas for participating in American Education Week activities are available to our members on the Resources page under American Education Week.

ISTA will post social media images and stories during American Education Week. Share your stories using the hashtag #aew2016.

Thank you to our educators for everything you do in our classrooms, schools and communities!
