Clarification on kindergarten enrollment
04/30/2019

Please be advised that contrary to earlier reporting, the General Assembly changed Indiana law to enable school districts that choose to enroll students who are younger than 5 years old by Aug. 1 (under an early entry appeals process in existing law) to receive funding for those students if they turn 5 by September 1, 2019 or by October 1, 2020.

The law dealing with the date for kindergarten enrollment (age 5 by Aug. 1) did not change.

What changed was the ability to receive funding for certain students if the school district elects to admit students under an early entrance appeal.
