ICYMI: Tony Bennett ethics hearing cancelled without reason

If you were looking to hear about the ethics investigation of former Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett by the State Ethics Commission today you’ll have to wait.

 

Inspector General David Thomas has announced that the hearing has been cancelled without giving a reason. The Commission is set to meet again on May 8.

 

The commission was supposed to meet this morning for a hearing to discuss the evidence that Bennett had used his state office for campaign work.

 

An Associated Press investigation found Department of Education emails and calendar items that showed Bennett and his staff making fund raising calls and meeting with political donors, including Christel DeHaan, the founder of a charter school that benefited from a grade change to its accountability score.
