Amendment introduced would have held voucher school employees accountable for political communications
02/24/2014

Representative Kreg Battles offered an amendment today to SB 385 proposing that employees in voucher schools would come under the same political communications restrictions that other public entities now come under.

The amendment was ruled out of order due to the House bill pending rule. (The bill pending rule states that no bill may be amended by annexing to it or incorporating with it any other bill pending before the House.)

ISTA agrees with Rep. Battles’ rationale for the amendment. These voucher school employees are all taxpayer-funded entities and should be treated consistently.

ISTA recognizes Rep. Battles for bringing this issue before the entire House tonight and looks forward to working on this in the future.
